Regions screen

Settings → Regions is where this asks from, and in which language. Each region gets its own and its own answers, so France and Germany are reported apart rather than mixed.

Setup creates the first region from the language and country you confirmed. That region is the primary region. You can add more if your plan allows; extra regions are on enterprise plans.

The primary region

Other regions take their questions from the primary region. Silktide writes each one in the other region's language, as it would be asked in that place, and keeps it linked to the original, so they are the same question in two places rather than two unrelated lists.

A region can follow the primary region. A following region asks every question the primary region asks, apart from any you leave out, and keeps up as you add questions to the primary region. Turn Follows off for a region that should ask only the questions you chose for it.

Adding a region

Add a region is a full screen, because a new region multiplies how many you measure. You pick a country and a language. Those two choices cannot be edited later: a different place or language is a new region, so each region's history still means one thing.

Then you choose which of the primary region's questions the new region starts with:

  • All of them (the usual choice).
  • Some of them. Tick the questions that matter in the new place.
  • None. The region is created empty.

You also choose whether the new region keeps in step with the primary region from then on.

Silktide writes the questions in the background. You can leave the screen straight away: the Regions list shows them arriving, and nothing is lost if you close the page.

The screen shows how many prompts this adds against your plan. Questions that go over your allowance are still written, but start paused until you have room.

Keeping regions up to date

Each region on the list says how it stands against the primary region:

  • Waiting to be written. Questions the region should ask that have not been written yet. They are normally written within minutes. Try again asks for them now.
  • Older wording. You reworded a question in the primary region after it was copied. Update rewrites the copies to match. Silktide also offers this right after you reword a question.
  • Not asked here. Questions from the primary region this region leaves out. Ask them here too adds them.
  • Paused. Questions waiting for room in your plan's prompt allowance.

When you remove a question from the primary region, Silktide asks whether to remove it from the other regions that ask it too.

Reading one language or one place

Reports can narrow by language and by place independently. You can look at every English answer across countries, or everything asked in Canada in any language, without picking a single region. A combination that this workspace does not measure (French in the United States, if you never added that pair) shows as empty on purpose.

What you can do

  • Add a region with a country, a language, and which questions it starts with.
  • Follow or stop following the primary region.
  • Update questions that still use older wording, or add the ones a region leaves out.
  • Remove a region you added, along with its questions. Their recorded answers are kept. The primary region stays.

Switch workspaces from the sidebar, then open Settings → Regions to see that workspace's list.
