Queries screen
Settings → Queries is the list of standing searches Silktide runs for this : the questions the News screen asks the web.
They are a setting rather than a control on the News screen because they decide what a fetch costs and what it can possibly find, and because they are edited rarely and read often.
Writing good queries
- Name the subject, not your brand. Queries exist to find coverage of the workspace - a query that only names you will only ever find you.
- One angle per query. "University ranking changes 2026" and "student visa policy UK" find different things; combining them finds neither reliably.
- Prune what never lands. A query that has not produced a story in months is spending allowance on nothing.
Every query runs once a day, on every plan. The cap is the number of queries a workspace holds, so pruning one that never lands is how you spend that budget on something better.
