Search gaps screen
Search gaps files every measured query in a by who ranks better in organic search. Search rankings tells you how you are doing overall; this screen tells you which specific queries to do something about.
It is the same measurement as Rankings, read a different way. Nothing extra is measured, so the date range, topics, brands, and search engines you pick here change this screen exactly as they change that one.
The four standings
Every query the window measured lands in one of four groups.
| Standing | What it means |
|---|---|
| Missing | A rival is on page 1 and you are not found in the results we read |
| Behind | You both rank, and a rival ranks better |
| Ahead | You both rank, and you rank better |
| Uncontested | You rank here and no rival does |
Pick a standing to focus the whole screen on it. The list of queries at the bottom is the work: Missing first, because those are queries a competitor already owns and you do not appear for at all.
