AI grammar

Silktide uses AI to read the visible text of your pages and report likely grammatical mistakes, each with a suggested correction.

The AI reads each sentence in context, the way a person does, so it can tell a genuine mistake from unusual but correct writing. No grammar checker is perfect - AI included - but this approach is much more reliable than traditional rule-based checking. Grammar has legitimate exceptions, so you review each finding and either correct it or approve it.

For example, all of these would be reported:

  • "Our widgets is the best on the market." (subject-verb disagreement)
  • "She have worked here since 2019." (wrong verb form)
  • "We are committed to provide great service." (wrong verb pattern - "to providing")

Findings are graded by how serious the mistake is:

  • Major - the mistake changes the meaning of the sentence, or would look clearly wrong to a native speaker.
  • Minor - pedantic mistakes most readers pass over, such as a missing space after a period.

Major findings are shown first. Suggestions are minimal edits: the check corrects mistakes, it does not propose stylistic rewrites of sentences that are already correct.

Why this matters

Grammatical mistakes read as carelessness, and readers extend that judgment to your organisation. They also make sentences genuinely harder to parse - for people reading quickly, people reading in a second language, and people using , a garbled sentence may simply fail to communicate.

Like typos, grammar problems cluster in content nobody rereads after publishing. Automated checking surfaces them across thousands of pages at once.

How to fix it

  1. Correct genuine mistakes in your and republish.
  2. findings that are intentional - slogans, quoted speech, informal voice, or house style. Approving stops Silktide reporting that instance again.
  3. If a whole page is flagged in the wrong language, fix the page's language rather than approving each finding - see how languages work.

How Silktide tests this

  1. Determine each page's language - see how languages work.
  2. Send the page's visible text to an AI language model that reads each sentence in context.
  3. Keep only findings the model is confident about, and grade each one Major or Minor by the kind of mistake.
  4. Report each suspect fragment highlighted in context with its suggested correction, Major findings first.

Troubleshooting

The flagged text is intentional

Marketing copy, headlines, and quotes often break grammatical rules deliberately. That is what approval is for - approve the finding and it will not return.

The suggestion is wrong

AI grammar checking is probabilistic and no tool gets every sentence right. Treat suggestions as prompts for judgment, not instructions. Approve anything you decide is correct as written.

This check and Grammar disagree

If your site also runs the Grammar check, expect some differences: the two use different technology and are reviewed independently, so approving a finding in one has no effect on the other. Review each on its own merits.
