AI screen

The AI screen is where your organization decides how Silktide uses AI on your behalf. If nobody has finished setup yet, Enable AI walks an administrator through the AI terms, the processing region, and the product-level choices (Silktide Agent, website AI reports, and Analytics AI reports). This screen is where you change those choices later. You need account administration permission to change anything here.

The two decisions are deliberately distinct:

Which providers may process your data. This is the one that matters to a data protection review.
What the AI is allowed to do. Whether the Agent can answer questions, whether it can make changes, and which kinds of AI report may run.

AI providers

Enabling a provider permits that company to process your account's data as a . Nothing runs on a provider you have not enabled.

Region chooses which set of providers this account may use: United States or European Union. When you create an account you pick this first; it defaults to the United States. Changing region is a change of compliance posture, not a filter: any provider the new region does not offer is withdrawn, and that withdrawal appears in the consent record. Switching back does not restore them: you enable providers again from the new list. Providers that exist in both regions keep their current switch.

Each provider then shows its contracting entity and a link to that company's data processing addendum, which is the contract that governs how it handles your data. A provider marked as not yet available is one Silktide cannot offer at the moment; you can enable it once it becomes available.

This setting also binds Silktide's own staff. When our team works in your account (during onboarding, or in response to a support request) we are restricted to exactly the providers you have enabled. We cannot reach for a different one because it would be convenient.

Silktide Agent cannot run until at least one provider is enabled, even if the Agent itself is turned on. If you turn every provider off, the Agent stops.

Enabling more than one provider is not a compromise. It gives your users a choice of models, and it means a provider having an outage does not stop your team working.

Capabilities

Each capability is its own card, labelled with a chip for how it treats your data:

Uses your data: some of your account's data leaves Silktide, almost always to a provider you enabled above. The one exception (Agent web search) says so on its row.
Uses none of your data: Silktide chooses the model, because none of your content, users, or website data is sent. You can still turn these off.

Turning a card's switch off hides the rest of that card. Enabling a capability never grants anyone access they did not already have. Individual roles still apply. The current models, with a short explanation of each, are listed in AI models and providers and What AI models does Silktide use?.

Cards for products you do not hold are omitted: AI platform measurement only appears if you have Presence, and PDF analysis only appears if you have Documents.

Silktide Agent

Lets permitted users chat with an AI that understands this account.

Default model is the model new conversations start on. Leaving it on the Silktide recommendation (named in the list, for example "Recommended: Grok 4.7 (SpaceXAI)") means your account moves to newer models as they prove themselves. Choosing a specific model pins conversations to it. You can only choose models from providers you have enabled. Nested under the Agent, and only shown while it is on:

Backup model is used when the default model is slow to respond, so a conversation keeps moving instead of waiting. Leaving it on the Silktide recommendation picks a different, consistently fast provider from the ones you have enabled. Choosing No backup turns this off and the Agent always waits for the default model. A reply that used the backup is marked Backup so you can tell which model actually answered.
Agent edit actions lets the Agent make approved changes, when the user also has edit permission and turns edit mode on. See Ask and Edit mode.
Agent vision lets the Agent look at pages and images, in chat and in reports. Turn it off and the Agent works from text alone.
Agent web search lets the Agent search the public web via Exa. Only the search wording is sent, never your content. Exa is a search index rather than an AI provider, so it is not on the provider list. Turn it off and the Agent answers from what it already knows and what Silktide has measured.

Website AI reports

Writes improvement plans from your website test results (for example accessibility or content), unattended. This card only appears if the account has website testing.

Default model for all AI reports is shared and separate from the chat default, because no one is present during a run to change it. The Silktide recommendation is named in the list, the same way as the Agent's default model.

Analytics AI reports

Writes reports from your visitor analytics, unattended: how the site is used, and how to convert more visitors. This card only appears if the account has Analytics. It uses the same reports model as website AI reports.

Presence strategy reports are not a switch on this screen. Holding Presence is the consent, because Presence is built on AI analysis.

Image analysis

Examines images and screenshots, for example to describe them or suggest alt text. Provider is the provider you have enabled that supports vision; where more than one can, you choose which. With it off, Silktide never suggests alt text. Alt text written without seeing the image would be guesswork, and we will not present guesswork as accessibility help.

Decorative image generation

Creates illustrations for AI reports from a prompt Silktide's own pipeline writes. None of your content, users, or website data is included, which is why it can use a provider outside the list you enabled above. Provider is locked to Google.

Spell check verification

Sends the individual words your dictionary flags as possible misspellings, with no surrounding content, and caches the results. See How does AI spell check work?.

AI platform measurement

Asks selected AI platforms about your brands, using only your monitoring questions and a locale, never your content or users. Platforms are chosen per workspace in Presence. This card only appears if the account has Presence.

PDF analysis

Reads, analyzes, and remediates PDFs. Provider is locked to Google; no other AI provider is supported. The card shows as not available if Google is not enabled above, and only appears if the account has Documents.

Existing Customer Addendum

If your organization's agreement with Silktide was signed before AI features existed, a short Existing Customer Addendum adds the terms for them. It changes nothing else in your agreement, and accepting it does not switch anything on. An account administrator accepts it in the product, confirming they are authorized to do so, and Silktide records who accepted, when, and which version.

Until it is accepted, AI features stay off, and Enable AI shows the addendum as its first step. If your legal or procurement team needs to review it first, Download a copy from that step for them. Silktide staff cannot accept it on your behalf. Once it is accepted, this screen shows who accepted it, when, and which version, and you can View the text or Download a copy that carries the acceptance record. Accounts that signed up under the Silktide Customer Terms do not see any of this, because those terms already contain the same provisions.

Every AI consent granted or withdrawn on this account, with who did it and how it arrived. Silktide staff appear here on exactly the same terms as your own users, so this is a complete record rather than a partial one.

The How column distinguishes evidence that a review will treat differently: a change an administrator made on this screen, something captured during onboarding, something agreed on an order form, an action by Silktide staff, or a change Silktide applied automatically.
