Targets screen
Targets let you set a measurable goal for a website - a score, a publishing cadence, or another supported metric - and track whether you are getting there by a deadline you choose.
Targets live on the website sidebar next to the results they measure. Open Targets for a website to review every goal on that site, create a new one, or open a target to see its progress and trend.
What you can set a target on
Available metrics depend on your account configuration. Typical choices include:
- Module scores - for example Content, Accessibility, User Experience, or Compliance overall.
- Accessibility standard scores - version and level (A, AA, or AAA) when those series are available.
- Criterion scores - a single scored criterion inside a module.
- Other measurable stats, where a screen offers Set target for the figure you are looking at.
Module overviews and related screens often include a shortcut to set or edit a target for the score or metric you are looking at, so you do not have to start from the Targets list.
Creating a target
- Open Targets on the website, or use Set target from a score or metric screen.
- Choose the metric the goal applies to.
- Enter the goal value and a deadline. Score-style metrics usually accept a percentage between 0 and 100; Silktide suggests a default when one exists.
- Give the target a clear name, and optionally assign people who should own progress towards it.
- Save. The target is scoped to the website (or section) you are working in.
You can have one target per metric on that website. If a target for the same metric already exists, Silktide opens it for editing instead of creating a duplicate. After a target exists, you cannot change its metric - delete it and create a new one if you need a different measure.
Reading the list
The Targets list shows every goal for the current website:
- Current - the latest measured value.
- Goal - the value you set.
- Progress - how close the current value is to the goal.
- Deadline - when you intend to hit it.
Search by name or metric when you have many targets.
Opening a target
The detail view shows the current value, how far you are above or below the goal, assignees, and a trend chart of the metric over time. Progress accounts for whether higher or lower values are better for that metric - a score target improves as the score rises, while a "lower is better" measure improves as the value falls.
Use Edit to change the goal, deadline, name, or assignees. Delete removes the target permanently.
How this relates to tasks
Assignees on a target mark who is responsible for the goal. They do not create work items by themselves. When a specific finding needs someone to fix a page or document, create a task from the finding or from the Tasks area.
Targets are for shared, measurable outcomes. Tasks are for individual pieces of work.
