Readability screen

Content > Readability shows how difficult the website's measured text is to read.

Read the summary

Switch between , and to view the same measured content on different scales. The summary shows the average, the 10th and 90th percentiles and how many pages are above the configured threshold.

The distribution shows how pages are spread across the selected scale. The languages and formulae panels explain which resolved page languages were measured and which formula was applied. The Pages table supports search, filtering and CSV export for detailed work.

Improve the result

  1. Start with pages above the threshold.
  2. Open a page and identify the passages responsible for its result.
  3. Rewrite for the intended audience, using shorter sentences and familiar words where that improves clarity.
  4. Publish the change and run another test.

Do not pursue the lowest possible score regardless of the audience. A legal, medical or technical page may need specialist vocabulary.

Check language before changing copy

Readability depends on the page's resolved language - see how languages work. If a result looks wrong, first review Inventory > Languages. Correct the HTML language, add a URL-based language rule, or use a per-page override as appropriate.

Account Readability settings choose the calibrated formula used for each language. Website language settings and page rules choose which language applies. The Readability report combines those decisions with the measured page content.
