Prompts

A is one question inside a , phrased the way a real person asks an AI assistant. Prompts are what Silktide actually sends to ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews, and any other assistants you enable.

Discovery vs branded

Most prompts deliberately do not name your brand. They are discovery questions your brand should be winning:

  • "What is the best smartphone for photography?"
  • "Which universities are strongest for undergraduate nursing?"
  • "How do I get a building permit in Meridian?"

A smaller set does name a brand - useful for reputation and fact-check-adjacent curiosity, but visibility work is mostly about being recommended when the customer has not named you yet.

Lifecycle

Silktide generates prompts from what it knows about your brands, topics, and websites. How prompts are chosen explains what goes into them, and how to tell whether a prompt is worth tracking. You can:

  • Generate more prompts for a topic
  • Edit wording so it matches how your audience actually asks
  • Add your own questions
  • Delete prompts you no longer care about

Only active prompts are measured in batches. Deleted prompts keep their history but stop running. You can restore them later.

Shared across brands

Because prompts belong to topics, every brand watching that topic shares the same runs. That keeps measurement comparable: Apple and Samsung are scored from the same smartphone questions, not from two private question lists that drift apart.

Suggest prompts for our "building permits" topic for City of Meridian, and keep the best five.

I'll propose discovery questions residents actually ask about building permits, generate the strongest five as active prompts, and we can delete any that are too narrow or duplicate later.
