Google AI Overviews

Google AI Overviews is the AI-generated answer Google sometimes shows at the top of a search results page. It is not a chat app - it appears inside ordinary Google Search, so many people see it without opening a separate assistant.

For some queries Google shows no overview at all. Silktide treats that absence as a real visibility result, not an error.

Reading Overview answers in Brands

Google builds Overviews as a rich, interactive experience inside Search. The text Silktide stores is a structured copy of that answer for measurement - mentions, position, perception, and citations - not a pixel-perfect replay of Google's page.

Because of how that text is delivered downstream, an Overview answer can occasionally look incomplete: a brand name missing from a sentence, a awkward gap before punctuation, or formatting that does not match what you saw in Search that day. Those gaps are rare, but they do happen. They come from the data Silktide receives for this surface, not from your brand configuration.

AI Overviews already vary from search to search. Silktide asks the same prompts on a recurring schedule and scores visibility across many answers. A one-off omission in a single run is blunted by that sampling - mention rates and rankings are built from the full window, not from any single paragraph.

We keep improving how Overview text is normalised and presented. If something looks wrong in one answer, open nearby runs for the same prompt, or widen the date range on the prompt report.
