Google AI Mode
Google AI Mode is Google's conversational AI answer surface inside Search. You open it for a question and get a chat-style answer with citations, rather than a classic list of blue links.
It is a different product from:
- Google AI Overviews - the short AI block that sometimes appears at the top of ordinary Google results
- Gemini - Google's consumer chat app and API
Silktide measures the real Google AI Mode page through a search API. There is no first-party Google API for this surface. Each prompt is asked in its conversational wording - the same form sent to ChatGPT or Gemini - because people typically type full questions here rather than keyword searches.
For some queries Google or the measurement pipeline may return no usable answer. Silktide treats that absence as a real visibility result, not an error.
