Technologies

Silktide identifies the technologies your website uses, such as content management systems, analytics tools, and code libraries. This is informational - it reports what runs on each page without judging it, and it does not affect your scores.

Why this matters

Large websites accumulate technologies faster than anyone tracks them, and this inventory answers questions that are otherwise surprisingly hard:

  • Consistency - which each part of the site runs on, and whether pages are still being served from a platform you thought was retired.
  • Privacy and security review - which analytics tools, trackers, and third-party scripts are actually present, including ones added long ago and forgotten.
  • Maintenance - which libraries are in use, and where, when planning upgrades or checking exposure to a known vulnerability.

How Silktide tests this

  1. Load each page in a real browser and examine what comes back - the page's , scripts, response headers, and cookies.
  2. Match these against recognition patterns for thousands of known technologies. Only confident detections are reported.
  3. Report each detected technology with its name, category (such as CMS or Analytics), version where one can be determined, and a link to its website.
  4. Summarise the most common CMS and analytics tool across the website.

Troubleshooting

A technology we use is not listed

Detection relies on visible fingerprints. Technology that leaves no trace in what the browser receives - much server-side software, databases, and internal infrastructure - cannot be detected from the outside. A heavily customised installation can also hide the fingerprints a stock one leaves.

The version is missing or outdated

Not every technology exposes its version publicly, so the version column can be empty even when the technology itself is confidently detected. Where a version is shown, it is what the page exposes, which is occasionally out of date.
