Network requests

Silktide loads your pages in a real browser and records every network request the page makes. This list shows each file the page downloaded, with its size, timing, and type, so you can see exactly what loading the page involves.

Why this matters

Every image, stylesheet, script, and font a page uses is a separate request, and together they determine how fast the page loads. A complete inventory of those requests is the starting point for most performance work: it shows what is largest, what is slowest, and what you might not have known was loading at all - old tracking tags and forgotten embeds often surface here first.

How to fix it

This is an informative list rather than a pass/fail test. Ways to use it:

  1. Sort by what stands out. The slowest requests are listed first; the largest files and unexpected domains deserve a look too.
  2. Question anything you don't recognise. If a request serves no purpose, removing it is free performance.
  3. Follow up in the related checks, which score specific problems: Data transfer for total weight, third-party code for other companies' scripts, and Image optimisation for heavy images.

How Silktide tests this

  1. Load the page in a real browser and record every request it makes.
  2. Capture each request's URL, transfer size, timing, protocol, status code, and resource type.
  3. List all requests with the longest transfer times first.
