Silktide diagnostics
Silktide diagnostics is a self-test that verifies Silktide's own checks are producing the results they should. It only operates on special test pages that declare the findings Silktide is expected to report, so on a normal website it reports nothing.
Why this matters
Silktide runs hundreds of automated checks, and you rely on their results being accurate. This check exists to continuously prove that: pages built with known, deliberate problems declare what Silktide should find on them, and any difference between the expected and actual results is caught immediately.
How Silktide tests this
- Look for an embedded block of expected results on the page - a script element that lists which checks should run there and the findings they should produce.
- On pages without this block, which is every page of a normal website, the check does not apply and reports nothing.
- On pages that have it, run the listed checks and compare their actual results against the declared expectations.
- Report each difference between expected and actual results.
Troubleshooting
This check reported something on my website
That would mean a page on your site embeds a Silktide test declaration, which is very unusual - it may have been copied in from a test page's source. If you did not put it there and the cause is not obvious, contact Silktide support.
