Metrics at a glance
Presence turns raw assistant answers into a small set of metrics you can track over time for each in each , and across a whole . This page is the whole set side by side; most metrics also have a page of their own.
These metrics describe - whether assistants mention and recommend you - not website readiness and not AI-referred traffic. See Presence and AEO for how the three layers fit together.
Core metrics
| Metric | What it answers |
|---|---|
| Rank | Among the tracked brands mentioned here, where does this brand place? See Rank. Not the same as position. |
| Visibility | Out of all the answers we measured, how many mentioned this brand at all? See Visibility. |
| Share of voice | Of all the brand mentions we counted, how many were this brand? See Share of voice. |
| Position | When several of your tracked brands are named, where does this brand appear in the running order? Only tracked brands take a place, so second means second among the rivals you chose, not behind every tool the answer happened to mention. Only answers that name the brand count, and a brand is first in any answer that names no rival, so read position next to visibility. It is order of appearance, not a ranking the assistant claimed. |
| Sentiment | When the brand is mentioned as a real answer (not a passing name-drop), does the answer praise it, criticize it, both, or neither? See Sentiment for the full calculation. |
| Citations | How often are this brand's pages used as a source? Each citation is one event: one answer using one URL. See Sources. |
| Answers measured | How large is the sample behind the other figures? |
How to read them
- Prefer trends and comparisons over any single day's score.
- Compare yourself to named competitors in the same topic - not to an abstract "100% visibility".
- Read visibility and share of voice together. Visibility rising while share of voice falls means the whole workspace is getting more coverage and your rivals are gaining faster than you.
- A strong citation story with weak mentions (or the reverse) points to different content work than a pure perception problem.
Visibility vs share of voice
These two sound alike, are constantly confused, and can move in opposite directions. Visibility is how often you appear, and nobody else can change it. Share of voice is how much of the conversation is yours, so it falls when rivals are mentioned more even though you were mentioned exactly as often as before.
Each has its own page, because each is worth getting right: Visibility and Share of voice.
