Assistive technology

Assistive technology is any software or hardware a person uses to make computers usable for people with disabilities. On the web, this includes , screen magnifiers, voice control, switch devices and keyboard-only navigation.

Assistive technologies rely on what a page declares about itself - its structure, labels, and language - rather than how it looks. That is why so many accessibility checks test the declared structure of a page.
