Views
A view is a named slice of the visits Analytics has recorded. Hosts that send data appear here on their own. An Analytics admin can also create a view, nest it inside another, and decide which hosts and URL rules it covers.
What you can do:
- Create a view at the top of the tree, or add a view inside an existing one.
- Rename a view so the Analytics picker uses the name your team already uses.
- Hide a view you do not need in the picker. The data stays; it just stops appearing as a choice.
- Delete a view you created when you no longer need it. Hosts that arrived because they sent data stay until you hide them.
Switch views from the Analytics picker. Goals, reports, and the Inspector's Analytics families follow the view you have open.
A nested view only includes traffic that also matches every parent. If you give it hosts that sit outside those parents, it matches nothing. Nesting that is too deep to walk is refused with a warning.
Manage views under Analytics → Settings → Views. Privacy, data, and install sit in the same settings area.
