Why can page limits prevent PDFs from testing?

Accounts have separate capacity for web pages and PDF documents, allocated per site as allowances.

Silktide classifies a URL as a PDF when it can recognise it as one (often via a .pdf extension or clear PDF response). If a document is served from a URL without .pdf - or only reaches a PDF after a redirect or rewrite - the crawler may treat that URL as an ordinary page.

Once the site's is exhausted, discovery stops for further page-classified URLs. That can leave real PDFs untested even if PDF allowance remains.

Fixes that usually work:

  • Increase the page allowance for the site, or
  • Serve document URLs with a clear .pdf path where you control the CMS
