How does Silktide see websites?

Silktide does not crawl websites like a traditional HTML-only bot. It loads each page in a real browser, so it sees roughly what a person sees after scripts run, layouts reflow, and resources load.

That means Silktide can:

  • Test the same page on desktop and mobile devices
  • Interact with pages (log in, dismiss banners, run user flows)
  • Assess layout, contrast, font size, and other visual qualities
  • Measure when a page becomes interactive
  • Capture screenshots and the final HTML after JavaScript has finished

Traditional bots that only download source code cannot reliably do those things on modern, script-heavy sites.

For how discovery, scope, and loading fit together, see How Silktide crawls. Mobile accessibility checks use a deliberately narrow viewport - see Why does Silktide test with an iPhone 5?. Home page presentation may use a modern phone frame for display.
