How does AI spell-check work?

Ordinary spelling still uses large dictionaries. Even multi-million-word dictionaries miss brand coinages, unusual names, and productive compounds (especially in languages like German).

When AI spell-check is enabled for the account:

1. Dictionary checking runs as usual
2. Unrecognised candidate words can be checked individually with an AI model
3. Clear proper nouns and plausible invented brand names are less likely to be flagged as definite errors

Silktide sends isolated words for that check, not whole pages, and does not use that data to train provider models. See What does Silktide AI do with my data?.

Administrators enable the feature under Utility AI on the AI screen. It is listed there rather than with the AI providers because it sends isolated words rather than your content, and so uses a model Silktide chooses. You can still maintain an account spelling dictionary for known terms.
