Favicon
A favicon is the small icon a browser shows for a website in tabs, bookmarks and history, and which phones use when a site is saved to the home screen. Sites declare favicons with <link rel="icon"> tags in the page's HTML, or by placing a favicon.ico file at the site root; a site will often provide several sizes and formats so every device can pick the best fit.
