Accessibility of Silktide

Silktide exists to help organizations make the web work for everyone, so we hold our own product to the same standard. Our goal is for all of Silktide to meet 2.2 at , and we test it with the keyboard and with a as we build it.

The current version of Silktide is a new release, and it gets better with every update. When we find something that falls short, we fix it, and we tell you about anything still open so you can work around it in the meantime.

Looking to test the accessibility of your own website? That is the Accessibility module in Governance.

What Silktide offers

  • Keyboard. Silktide is designed to be used with the keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline. ⌘K (Ctrl+K) opens the command palette, and ⌘/ (Ctrl+/) lists every shortcut.
  • Screen readers. Each screen has its own title, headings, and landmarks, and buttons that show only an icon have a text name. Charts open as tables of their values.
  • Contrast and theme. Light, dark, and high contrast, following your device or set by you.
  • Motion. Reduce animation, or follow your device's setting.
  • Zoom. The layout rearranges as you zoom, so you rarely need to scroll sideways.
  • Language. Use Silktide in your own language.

Accessibility features explains how to use each of these.
