Reading level
A reading level is the stage of education a reader would need to follow a page comfortably. Silktide places every page it scores on one of five levels:
| Level | CEFR | Reading age |
|---|---|---|
| Primary | A1 to A2 | under 11 |
| Lower secondary | B1 | 11 to 14 |
| Upper secondary | B2 | 14 to 17 |
| University | C1 | 17 to 21 |
| Postgraduate | C2 | 21 and over |
Each level is the same difficulty expressed three ways: by stage of education, by band, and by . A page scored with any formula, in any language, gets a level, so levels are how Silktide compares pages across languages.
3.1.5 Reading Level (AAA) asks for content that needs no more than lower secondary education. Upper secondary and harder fail it.
