Decisions and tasks
Not every finding should be handled in the same way. The Inspector provides actions for recording decisions and turning accepted work into tasks.
Decisions
A records your judgment about a finding. Most decisions are one of two kinds, and the difference matters:
- Approve means Silktide got it wrong: you have manually confirmed this is not a problem, and Silktide should treat it as correct from now on. Approving an unusual brand spelling teaches the spellchecker that the word is always right.
- Ignore means Silktide got it right, but you are choosing not to act. The issue is real; you just don't want it raised. A misspelling inside a quote or user-submitted comment is a good example - you would not approve it, because that would accept the spelling as valid everywhere, forever.
The available actions depend on the check. Read each one carefully, especially when it can affect more than the current occurrence.
Decisions affect your scores when they change a scored check. Recalculation can take a minute or two on a large website; Silktide catches up as quickly as it can. You can review and undo any decision in Website settings > Decisions.
Use Mark as fixed when you have corrected an issue but are waiting to retest. It temporarily removes the issue from your lists without changing the score.
Tasks
Create a task when a finding needs someone to change the website or document. Include enough context for the assignee to understand the problem without recreating your investigation.
A useful task records:
- The affected website, page, check, and occurrence.
- Why the issue matters.
- The expected outcome.
- The responsible team or person.
- An appropriate priority and due date.
After the fix is deployed, retest the website. Closing a task does not itself prove that the underlying issue has disappeared.
For the account-wide Tasks area, see Tasks.
