Governance

Governance tests every page and PDF on your websites for Content, Accessibility, User Experience, and Compliance. In Silktide 5 it is rebuilt around one idea: tell you what to do, not just what was found.

A strategy for every module

Choose Write a strategy on any module, and Silktide's AI reads its results and says what to fix first. It finds the pattern behind the findings, such as one missing line in a shared template that fails nearly every page, and turns each fix into a proposed task. See Module strategy.

An accessibility strategy for a wine retailer's website headed "One theme pass would fix almost every page", beside the site's Accessibility score of 64.

Scores that show their working

Every module opens with Costing you most: the checks taking the most points, and how many. How it's scored shows the whole chain. Approve a finding Silktide got wrong, or ignore one you have chosen not to act on, and the score updates without a retest.

The Accessibility overview for a website scoring 64, with a strategy headline, the score trend against a target, the checks costing the most points, and scores for WCAG levels A and AA, ARIA, and best practice.

The standards you are held to

Tell Silktide where your website operates and what kind of organization runs it, and it proposes the regulations that apply, from ADA and Section 508 to the European Accessibility Act, AODA, and GDPR. It scores the site against each one you choose, and drafts an accessibility statement from what it found. See Compliance.

Accessibility tests against 2.2, plus ARIA and best practice. Every PDF on your websites is tested against , the international standard for accessible PDFs.

Key pages Silktide watches for you

Star up to ten pages per website, from the key pages your plan includes. Key pages sit above your page lists, get speed tests on desktop and mobile, and are checked for uptime every five minutes when your plan has uptime checks available. See Pages.

More in Governance
  • Custom checks. Describe a rule, such as a retired product name, and test it against a live page before you save it. See Custom checks.
  • Priorities and responsibilities. Say how urgent each check is to you, and route each finding to the editor, developer, or designer who can fix it.
  • Uptime and user flows. Monitor a login or checkout, not just a page, with an incident calendar for the last three months. See Uptime.
  • Mark as fixed. Clear an issue from your lists once you have fixed it. The score waits for a retest. See Mark as fixed.
  • What changed in your score. Your Silktide 4 and Silktide 5 scores side by side, from the same scan. See What changed in your score.
  • A smarter Inspector. Clickable links, a screen reader preview of any element, and Ask AI with the page already loaded.
  • Readability and spelling in your languages. Readability in dozens of languages, and spelling that checks each page in the language it declares.
  • Targets. Set a score and a date, and track the gap.
  • Inventory. Every page, PDF, link, language, technology, and user flow Silktide found, in one place.
  • Collections. Sets of websites with combined scores.
