Governance with a keyboard or screen reader
This page explains how to read Governance's scores, charts, and tables with a keyboard or a . For features that work on every screen, such as shortcuts, themes, and zoom, see Accessibility features. The Inspector has its own page: The Inspector with a keyboard or screen reader.
Move around a website
- Press ⌘⇧F on Mac or Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows or Linux to search the pages and content of the website you are in.
- When you open a check, page, or issue from a list, press J for the next item and K for the previous one, or use the Next item and Previous item buttons.
Read scores and charts
- A score is read as a full sentence, not only as the number inside its circle. A site or module that has not been scored yet is read as "Not scored yet".
- Each module's score comes with a table of the checks costing you most, with Check and Points columns. Each check's name is a link, and its Actions menu includes Create task from this check. The table says in text what the chart beside it shows.
- Score history charts open as a table of their values with Expand. See Read a chart.
Tables of pages, PDFs, and checks
- Tables sort from their column headings, and your screen reader is told which column is sorted and in which direction.
- When a search or filter leaves nothing to show, "Nothing matches" is announced.
- When the window is narrower than a desktop, including when you zoom in, each table turns into a list, so you do not have to scroll sideways.
- On the Pages screen, the star beside a page is a button named Mark as key page or Remove from key pages. Page thumbnails are pictures only, and the page's name is always next to them.
Compliance and uptime
- On Compliance, the coverage map is a picture, so screen readers skip it. The sentence under it names the places your requirements cover, and Your requirements lists each requirement as text, with its issues, score, and change.
- On Uptime, the Last 30 days strip is a list, and a screen reader reads each day's date and status. A monitor's current status is shown with an icon and a word as well as a color.
Decisions
When you approve or ignore an issue, "Decision applied" is announced without moving your focus, with an Undo button. See Decisions and tasks.
