What is the difference between automated and assisted checks?

Silktide checks fall into a few kinds:

• Automated - a computer can decide pass or fail. Example: an image has no alternative text attribute at all.
• Assisted - a human judgment is required. Example: the alternative text exists, but is it appropriate for the image?
• Custom - rules your organization defines for your own policies.

Automated coverage is large, but it is never the whole of accessibility or content quality. Use assisted checks and human review where judgment matters. See Checks and Standards coverage.
