How long does a website take to test?

As a very rough rule of thumb, plan on around one hour per 1,000 pages. Treat that as a benchmark, not a promise.

Real test time depends on:

  • How busy Silktide's systems are when you run the test
  • How complex the site is (heavy JavaScript, large pages, many resources)
  • Whether the site rate-limits or blocks crawlers
  • Whether testing must log in repeatedly, or run user flows
  • How long each page takes to become usable on desktop and mobile

Silktide distributes testing across many machines. When a site is slow to finish, the bottleneck is usually the website (or its defenses), not Silktide sitting idle.

If tests are timing out or only partly completing, see What should I do if a website will not test?.
