WCAG levels (A, AA, AAA)
Every success criterion has a conformance level that indicates how essential it is:
- Level A - the minimum. Failing these makes content unusable for some people.
- Level AA - the widely required standard. Most laws, regulations, and contracts that reference WCAG require Level AA, which includes everything in Level A.
- Level AAA - the strictest level. Valuable where achievable, but not expected across an entire website.
When someone says a site must "meet WCAG 2.2 AA", they mean it should satisfy every Level A and Level AA criterion in WCAG version 2.2. Silktide lets you filter accessibility results by level so you can focus on the bar that applies to you.
